Skills Development Training (Vocational Training) and Social Business Entrepreneurship offer good opportunities for marginalized Women, Girls and Youth to have jobs, employ themselves, generate income, improve their livelihoods and hence fight income poverty, early and forced marriage.

As well as producing good quality products leading to increase in Gross Domestic product and profitability especially in the rural settings, jobs creation, and subsequently reduce poverty level among the target beneficiaries.

WAYDS empowers Women, Girls and Youth through skills development and entrepreneurship in different skills like Carpentry, Paper Bag making, Environment management, Renewable energy uses, Income Generating Activities (IGAs), Social Business establishment, Brick-laying concrete
and Practice, Sewing and Tailoring, Soaps creation, Leather Tanning, Hand Craft training, Part Decoration, Candles creation, Chalks design and the like.

WAYDS makes the following interventions so as to promote Social Business Entrepreneurship;

  • Creating sustainable SME ecosystems, lifting women and communities out of multidimensional poverty.
  • Empower women and girls to establish women-owned businesses and household entrepreneurships, saving money, and increasing self reliance.
  • Promoting the establishment of Income Generating Activities (IGAs), focusing on Social Business Entrepreneurship.
  • Demonstrating innovative approaches to build a supportive ecosystem for women entrepreneurship aimed at shifting from the informal to the formal economy.
  •  Promoting and demonstrating innovative approaches for food, vegetables and fruits processing, packaging, and marketing to empower women and girls economically.
  •  Contributing to innovative ways to disseminate advisory services addressing issues that inhibit women entrepreneurs in the informal economy from formalizing their activities (business registration, policy advocacy, market chains and linkages, contracts and bank
    account opening)
